Founded in 1991, The Roundhouse Group is a significant distributor of adult non-fiction books and related product within the UK & Europe for overseas English-language publishers from the USA, Canada, Australia and Singapore, and from whom we import by sea and air on a regular basis.

In April 2006 the Roundhouse Group acquired Windsor Books International, the respected distributor of a number of quality illustrated non-fiction and travel publishers.

This strategic step forward unites two successful and independent distributors and provides a welcome alternative for publishers who seek something other than the conglomerate route for their UK/European distribution, and who appreciate a bespoke service that seeks to understand and complement

their existing and developing lists.

The enlarged Roundhouse Group comprises four sales divisions:

A primary benefit of working with us is professional sales representation.

We have a team of dedicated salesmen and women across the UK & Europe, selling to:

Retail booksellers (chains, independents, museum, university, specialist interest, etc.)

Retail HO accounts (Waterstone’s, Borders, W H Smith, etc.)

Wholesale accounts (Bertrams, Gardners, etc.)

Library suppliers (Holt Jackson, Askews, Bertrams Lib. Services, Coutts, Dawson, etc.)

Educational suppliers (Blackwell’s, Peters, Heath Educational, etc.)

Online booksellers (inc. Amazon.co.uk, Tesco online, etc.)

Book clubs and direct mail sellers (Reader’s Union, Rompa, Incentive Plus, etc.)

Non-bookstore accounts (art & craft, photography, garden centre stores, etc.)

We run four sales cycles per year to maximize appointments with buyers and to fit in with our major customers’ buying and promotional cycles. This also avoids ‘bumping’ titles from one half-year season to the next as each new title is slotted into the first available cycle on receipt of information from the participating publisher. This provides for as close to a global publishing date as international shipping allows or local promotional activity dictates.

The Roundhouse Group is partnered in the physical distribution of its publisher’s lists by Orca Book Services, a dedicated warehouse facility located on the central south coast of England. Orca’s track record in book industry logistics holds them in high esteem and is a valuable asset from which our publishers benefit without the hassle of separate agreements or needing to micro-manage overseas distribution. Orca is a subscriber to Pubeasy.com, giving booksellers 24/7 online access to its title/ordering database.

Additionally, the Roundhouse Group is a subscriber to Nielsen BookData’s ‘enhanced service’. Our close working relationship with a dedicated editor ensures that our client publisher titles are posted onto Europe’s leading bibliographic search engine, order routing, and EDI service.

We are active participants in Europe’s two major book trade fairs, The London Book Fair and the Frankfurt Book Fair, and welcome attendance and participation from client publishers at these events.

We should be pleased to discuss your preferred method of working with us:

on-consignment or firm-sale are both options depending upon the range and quantity of stock you wish to see available within the UK & Europe and your discount structure.
